Maison Élise leads the interior design for custom homes and boutique developments, guiding each project from concept through to construction. As the studio grows, we continue to expand into collaborations with private clients, developers, and architects who value timeless design and purposeful execution.

Based in Brisbane, our work extends across Australia and internationally. We offer a calm, confident process that supports clients from the earliest idea to the final layered space. Every project is approached with clarity, beauty, and intention, ensuring each detail is considered, from the way a space flows to the way it is ultimately lived in.

Tara Wallington

Design Director & Founder

Founded by interiors professional Tara Wallington, Maison Élise was established as a studio focused solely on thoughtful, practical interior design. The work centres on materials, detail, and spatial flow, with an emphasis on creating spaces that feel calm, enduring, and considered.

Tara’s experience across residential and multi-residential projects, along with time spent working alongside leading architects and designers, has shaped a straightforward and collaborative approach to each project.

Her background in property development also brings a practical understanding of how projects are built and delivered. This helps ensure that design ideas are not only beautiful, but realistic, achievable, and aligned with the wider goals of the project.

Strategy

Strategy sets the foundation for every project. We begin by understanding lifestyle, architecture, and the feeling the home should evoke. This stage defines the vision and purpose, giving clarity to scale, proportion, and the design direction ahead. Through thoughtful analysis and intuitive conversation, we establish guiding principles that shape all decisions to follow.

Concept

The concept establishes the identity of the project. We explore materiality, light, and form to define the atmosphere of the home. Curated palettes, spatial intentions, and early compositions begin to emerge, forming a cohesive narrative that aligns with both architecture and the way you choose to live. Design Development

Design development takes the project far beyond the concept stage. We refine every detail with care, ensuring joinery, lighting, materials, and spatial flow are fully resolved and buildable. Many studios stop at concept, but our process goes deeper, articulating every layer so the design carries clarity and intention. This stage transforms ideas into a complete, thoughtfully considered design that can be executed with confidence.

Documentation

Documentation translates the design into precise drawings and specifications that guide the construction process. Joinery, fixtures, finishes, and detailing are clearly communicated, ensuring consistency and accuracy on site. This stage provides builders, trades, and consultants with everything required to execute the design as intended, minimising uncertainty and preserving the integrity of every decision.

Construction

We support the project throughout construction, maintaining the design intention through each stage of the build. Our involvement is flexible and can be as little or as much as you need, offering guidance and reassurance whenever required. We collaborate with builders, architects, and consultants to ensure every detail is carried through to completion and the final outcome reflects the vision with absolute clarity.
